NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL IN AGUADULCE (SEVILLA)
The building programme shows two independent volumes connected by theexterior space underthe porch. Simultaneously, both parts coordinate the plot, clearly determining each of the required outdoor areas.
The primary school volume is made up of two programmatic bands which flank a central transit space. The southern band, with an optimal orientation and two levels, comprises classrooms and a library. As for the northern band, it has a sole floor which is drilled through gardened courtyards that alternately light the teachers’ area, the administration offices and the non-academic staff areas from east to west. These courtyards, closed in by blank walls as a reaction to the parking and dividing walls, are used to sequence the central transit space and serve as a guide for children, teachers and other passers-by. Lastly, the programme is completed by the caretaker’s house and the dining hall.
